About our masthead photo: Phil Silvers attempts (and fails) to flag down a passing Corvair Rampside in the 1963 film It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. It's one of just two Corvair sightings in the blockbuster comedy, but notable because the distinctive sound of the Corvair engine is heard on the film's soundtrack. Why is the Rampside way over on the "wrong" side of the road? Because the filming location was an on-ramp for an adjacent highway.
